U.S. FINAL’S
CHAMPIONS

IHB Explosion Competitive Cheerleading Team (Indian Head Braves)
located in Indian Head, MD were crowned U.S. Final’s Destination Champions in the 14 & under Rec. Ltd. Tumbling Division. IHB Explosion competed in several competitions during the 2008/2009 season receiving a 2008 Team Sportsmanship Award, 2nd PLACE trophy at the MD Cup Competition in Upper Marlboro, MD, 2nd PLACE trophy at St. Pallette competition in Laurel, MD and a 1st PLACE trophy along with a GRAND CHAMPIONS award at UMBC competition in Baltimore, MD, which qualified the team to compete in the U.S. Final’s Cheerleading Competition held in Virginia Beach, May 1-3rd, 2009. The U.S. Final’s Competition is one of the largest competitions in the country. It is held in four different states Cincinnati, OH, Las Vegas, NV, Oklahoma, OK and Virginia Beach, VA. IHB Explosion competed in the Virginia Beach competition receiving 1st PLACE GRAND CHAMPIONS award and qualified for a U.S. Final’s ranking which consisted of combining all the scores from the four states and awarding the team with the highest score from each division US CHAMPIONS. Competing against 10 teams in their division and receiving the highest score IHB EXPLOSION was crowned
U.S. FINAL’s DESTINATION CHAMPIONS.

The Indian Head Braves decided to organize the competitive team this year which consists of 27 cheerleaders ranging in age from 8 to 14 years old. The organizations goal was to provide a positive outlet for these young ladies and gentleman along with teaching them teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, self-respect and self-discipline. These young ladies and gentleman worked very hard all season in preparing for these competitions and deserve to be recognized in the community.

Indian Head Braves would like to thank the coaches of this team, Karla King and Brianna Clagett, the IHB Explosion Staff members LeShonne Smith and Lorita Johnson for all their hard work and dedication.
